A top choice for sedan fans for more than two decades, the compact Volvo S60 luxury car first debuted back in 2000. Since then, this popular car has undergone plenty of changes and updates, leading similar models in technology, craftsmanship, and features. At Faulkner Volvo Cars Trevose, where we proudly carry the area's best selection of new Volvo models, we're big fans of the S60 ourselves, and we want to help you get to know it better, today.
Highlights of the Volvo S60
Available in multiple powertrain options, including as a plug-in hybrid car, the Volvo S60 is highly customizable. There is a lengthy menu of trims and special packages to choose from as well, which means it's never been easier to get your car equipped exactly how you want it.
Aside from its eye-catching design and signature Volvo luxury, one of the things that sets the S60 apart from other, similarly sized sedans is that this car is fully made right here in the U.S., by American workers. The Volvo S60 is built in a Volvo plant located in South Carolina, where its features and high-quality materials are all put together by American employees.
For 2023, the Volvo S60 is a continuation of the model's third generation, which first premiered here in the Trevose, PA area back in 2019. As a continuation, it doesn't introduce us to any major overhauls or drastic makeovers, but it does get a handful of nice tweaks and updates that we think longtime fans and newcomers alike will appreciate.
To illustrate what's new and exciting for the 2023 Volvo S60, and to help you understand some of the reasons why we think it's the perfect car for your everyday commute, we've compared it side by side with the previous model, the 2022 Volvo S60. - Trim level names. In 2022, the Volvo S60 was available in three main trim levels, plus the S60 Recharge, a groundbreaking plug-in hybrid. In 2023, it's still available in three great trims, plus the hybrid option, except, now, those trims have new names. 2022 models were named Momentum, Inscription, and R-Design, while 2023 models are called Core, Plus, and Ultimate. The plug-in hybrid name Recharged carries over unchanged.
- Design tweaks. Compared to the 2022 version, the 2023 model gets subtle changes to its design, with small updates to both the interior and exterior of the car.
- New infotainment technology. For 2023, a Google-based infotainment system takes center stage. It comes with a new type of USB ports, USB-C, replacing the 2022 model's USB-A type ports.
- New standard technology. The 2023 Volvo S60 also adds newly standard features to its roster, in comparison to the 2022 version. This includes navigation, which was optional for the previous model year but is now standard in 2023.

Despite these changes, the 2022 version of this car and the 2023 model have a lot in common. For starters, both models come with your pick of either a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the plug-in hybrid. Power outputs are the same in 2023 as they were in 2022 as well.
Additionally, fuel economy ratings and EPA fuel efficiency numbers are the same from year to year. The gas tank, range per full tank, cargo space, and passenger space all also remain the same.
