Over recent years, the Volvo XC60 has cultivated a devout following. It was the first Volvo SUV to feature the mild-hybrid powertrain while providing a mid-range cabin capable of seating five passengers. Inside, the interior was technologically fitted with voice-activated Google built-in applications.
Fast forward and Volvo XC60 exhibits a new exterior design and updated features. And as always, there's that Volvo-minted element of safety to spirit you and family through challenging conditions or avoidance altogether. As with any Volvo model refresh, the Trevose shopper may secure the marque's sense of innovation in one package.
Volvo XC60 has been updated across both mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variations. To the former is the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that's paired to an onboard 48-volt battery. In total, performance metrics rise to 247 horsepower and 266 pound feet of torque. Standard is all-wheel drive (AWD) and the eight-speed automatic transmission.
As for the Volvo XC60 plug-in hybrid, there's the ability to roam fuel- and emissions-free for a certain length of mileage while exercising 455 horsepower. Zero to 60 mile per hour acceleration here has been timed to 4.2-seconds. A simple overnight charge at home in Trevose gets things started in the morning.
To all-new Volvo XC60, the exterior is noticeable for the updates made. The redesigned front fascia incorporates a larger grille and a new lattice-like design. Thor's hammer LED headlamps wrap around a hood that channels oncoming air to each margin. To the rear are taillights with a darkened shroud for contrast.
Wheel options have been created and new exterior colors comprise Forest Lake, Mulberry Red and Aurora Silver toward turning heads in Trevose.
The interior space to Volvo XC60 is one of seamlessness. Observed as soon as stepping inside is a richly appointed cabin offering clean lines that reduce the clutter seen in other branded SUVs on the market. While seating five adults, there remains spacious cargo carrying options once the rear seating row is folded flat.
One cannot speak of the cabin without mentioning the technology included. New to the updated Volvo XC60 is the tablet-like touchscreen display measuring to 11.2-inches. Its location and mounting seems to float before the dashboard, while providing a pixel density that is more intense than the previous 9-inch display. Apple and Android integration, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Hotspot are all standard details.
With any Volvo model, safety is as much a feature as is the advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon operating system for infotainment processing. Standard-supplied here are functions of automated braking in emergency situations, lane keeping assistance and pedestrian detection.
The Pilot Assist system delivers semi-autonomous driving functions such as adaptive cruise control. Optional is the driver's head-up display to lessen distraction in the cockpit, and to assist with parking in tight spaces is the 360-degree virtual composite view from above.
